From Post-Modern to Contemporary Classical
Completed in the early 1990s, Telepark Tampines was a post-modern building clad in stone, typical of its era. Behind its façade, it continues to operate as one of Singtel’s key data centres in Singapore.
Y2G was engaged to refresh the building’s exterior while keeping the data centre fully operational throughout the works.
The new façade uses light champagne aluminium cladding paired with matte gunmetal grey. The champagne tone recalls the warm, golden character of the original post-modern design, while the darker grey adds depth and contrast. Together, they give the building a quiet, refined presence within its surroundings.
Rather than erasing the building’s history, the design builds on it. Proportions were refined and key elements reworked to create a timeless, elegant expression, all without replacing the existing glazing.
